 ====Biography====
-I am an Associate Professor at Aarhus University, Denmark. I lead the Machine Learning and Computational Intelligence (MaLeCI) group at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and the research area on Machine Intelligence of the Centre for Digitalisation, Big Data and Data Analytics at Aarhus University. I also serve as Associate Editor in Chief of Neurocomputing journal handling the area of Neural Networks.
+Alexandros Iosifidis is an Associate Professor at Aarhus University, Denmark. He leads the Machine Learning & Computational Intelligence group at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has contributed in more than twenty R&D projects financed by EU, Finnish, and Danish funding agencies and companies. He has co-authored 85+ articles in international journals and 100+ papers in international conferences/workshops proposing novel Machine Learning techniques and their application in a variety of problems. He received prestigious awards, including the Academy of Finland Postdoctoral Research Fellowship 2016, and the H.C. Ørsted Young Researcher Prize 2018 for contributions to Signal Processing and Machine Learning, and the EURASIP Early Career Award 2021 for contributions to Statistical Machine Learning and Artificial Neural Networks.
-The aim of MaLeCI@AU is to gain a better understanding of the ways computational models can efficiently learn from experiencing a variety of complex environments. This involves the study of statistical theories and computational models, such as those in statistical machine learning, neural networks and deep learning, as well as their practical implementations in a variety of application domains either as standalone models or as jointly optimized solutions. Our work is funded by the European Commission, the Danish Council for Independent Research, the Innovation Fund of Denmark, and companies. Our research has led to new methodological and theoretical results, and concrete solutions in problems coming from computer/robot vision, signal processing, bioscience, and finance.
+Alexandros is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and he served as an Officer of the Finnish IEEE Signal Processing-Circuits and Systems Chapter from 2016 to 2018. As of 2020 he is a member of the Technical Area Committee on Visual Information Processing of the European Association of Signal Processing (EURASIP), and a Management Committee Member of the COST Action Fintech and Artificial Intelligence in Finance. As of 2021, he is leading the Machine Intelligence research area of the Centre for Digitalisation, Big Data and Data Analytics (DIGIT) at Aarhus University. He is currently serving as Associate Editor in Chief for the Neurocomputing journal, covering the research area of Neural Networks. He has been serving in the Editorial Board of international journals, including the Signal Processing: Image Communication journal and the BMC Bioinformatics journal. He contributed in the organization of several international conferences as an Area Chair or Technical Program Committee Chair, including IEEE ICIP (2018,2019,2020,2021), EUSIPCO (2019,2021), IEEE ICASSP (2019), and as Program Committee Member of IJCNN (2021).
